hi all,
what do you think about changing the images format from GIF to PNG?
(the icons used to browse ftp directories)
the algo used to compress GIFs is patented to compuserve, and
although this actually only affects companies that offer products
that use this algo, i think PNG as an open source project
(http://www.libpng.org) fits to squid.
the browser png support looks good, too:
http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/pngapbr.html
i have uploaded a zip file that contains all the images
in png format, they are compressed with max compression level
and their background is transparent (just like the gif's).
ratio gif:png is 1:1.455 (for the whole folder)
i also added a formatted mime.conf for the png files,
furthermore added
.bz2 application/x-bzip2
.ico$ image/x-icon
.pac$ application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig

what do you think?
regards,
Clemens
