Depends on how it says off.
Squid configure tests to see if its required by --with-ipv6-split-stack
option. And if the option is not seen it attempt to operate the
v4-mapping ability and see if its available.
What I expect to see for you is that:
configure detects the --with-* option (split-stack requirement) is
not found.
tests stack capabilities and finds type/mode as split-stack.
-> Which causes split-stack to be automatically enabled anyway despite
the missing --with option.
If your automatic build failed to detect it I would still like to track
down why in addition to knowing if the split-stack code works yet.
