I better change to subject to '1.1.beta23 dnsserver problem' since I have
the same problem on Linux systems:

Nov 30 21:13:29 dec squid[1106]: Starting Squid Cache version 1.1.beta24
for i586-unknown-linux...
Nov 30 21:13:29 dec squid[1108]: dnsOpenServer:
/usr/local/squid/bin/dnsserver:
(13) Permission denied
Nov 30 21:13:29 dec squid[1106]: dnsOpenServer: $hello read test failed
Nov 30 21:13:29 dec squid[1106]: --> read: (10) No child processes
Nov 30 21:13:30 dec squid[1106]: Ready to serve requests

Dec 1 17:18:09 dec squid[121]: Starting Squid Cache version 1.1.beta25 for
i586
-unknown-linux...
Dec 1 17:18:10 dec squid[122]: dnsOpenServer:
/usr/local/squid/bin/dnsserver: (
13) Permission denied
Dec 1 17:18:10 dec squid[121]: dnsOpenServer: $hello read test failed
Dec 1 17:18:10 dec squid[121]: --> read: (10) No child processes
Dec 1 17:18:11 dec squid[121]: Ready to serve requests.
Dec 1 17:18:12 dec squid[121]: ftpget server failing too rapidly
Dec 1 17:18:12 dec squid[121]: WARNING: FTP access is disabled!

The message seems to indicate dnsserver is not executable, but it is!

Even ftpget bails out on me now!

I did not have these problems running the 1.0-squids.
