squid hanging?

 Greetings!
 Ive recently noticed that squid starts hanging when theres more than 3 or
4 ftpget programs running. It doesnt really stop, but it slows down
almoust to a dead end, and i need to kill it. Anyone noticed something
similar?
 (btw im running squid 1.1.4, on a machine running Linux 2.0.18 with 64
MBs of RAM)
