Re: squid slow to respond..

  I had the same problem.
  Resolved it by having one parent (upstream)
  Parents for specific slow domains from our
  location.
  Then used squid1.NOV14 , and made sure there
  is enough memory for all the objects in memory.
  We have a simalar setup , load is 0.1 average.

  Also make sure it is not swapping. Also , kernel
  2.0.30 seems to be stable , but keep an eye on it.
  I've had memory problems with it.
  On that point , is it a good idea to just leave
  the proxie running , or is it an idea to reboot it
  once so every often. I'll tell you why , it was swapping
  (1.NOV.14 pent 32 M 190 000 objects in mem , configured
   with 25 megs) , and I could not fathon why , shared mem was
   excessive , and the uptime was 22 days. I eventually
   decided to reboot it , no problems since.

   Note : I upgrade the machine as it becomes necasary.
