You need to into usr/include/linux/fs.h and change the following two
variables:
#define NR_OPEN 1024
#define NR_FILE 1024
I use 1024, but you can set it to whatever you want. Then you need to go
into /usr/include/linux/limits.h and change the following:
#define NR_OPEN 1024
#define OPEN_MAX 1024
Then you have to recompile the kernel :-) You can probably get by with
1024 filedescriptors unless you are running an extreamly busy cache.
