(114) Operation already in progress

I keep getting these messages _a lot_ from all versions of squid that I
have tried. What do they mean? Why do they occur. I noticed in the logs
that there usually a like like the following when they occur.

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash2/Flash2trial.EXE

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL:
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash2/Flash2trial.EXE

The following error was encountered:

     Connection Failed

The system returned:

    (114) Operation already in progress

This means that:

    The remote site or server may be down. Please try again soon.
