How secure against attack is Squid?

Hi there

I just read an article on the firewall mailing list
<199712090655.BAA29299@taltos.tla.org> which says that squid contains
tonnes of buffer overruns and shouldn't be used as part of
a firewall solution.

Is that true? (These ol' overruns are really becoming a pain in the ass ;-/)
