Make sure that you enable all these options:
CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL
CONFIG_INET
CONFIG_FIREWALL
CONFIG_IP_FIREWALL
CONFIG_IP_TRANSPARENT_PROXY
I'm using 2.0.35 here without any problem.
