Using squid for accelerating multiple sites

Hi,
I am trying to set up an accelerator configuration with some non-trivial features. I have studied the docs and the
FAQ, but I am still not sure whether I have proper ideas how to do this. Squid (2.1.PATCH2) runs on machine
which has several IP addresses bound to the same network interface and intended to accelerate more web servers.

1. In the current configuration I have a httpd_accel_host=virtual and use a custom redirector application. Is it the
best (or only) way to set up this system?

2. I need Common Logfile format access.log. Unfortunately the query string is still missing from the output, but I've
found a patch in the archive of this mailing list. Did anyone use this fix?

3. Sometimes I have to purge individual objects or entire web sites from the cache. Is there a convenient way to do
this? (the 'client -m PURGE' doesn't seem to work)

Cheers,
