What is the latest trick to getting more than 1024 fd's with squid and
linux? I have read the FAQ. I am using linux-2.2.5 with ac7 patch applied
(for increased fd's).
before running configure I did "ulimit -n 8192". I also edited
/usr/include/linux/limits.h as per the FAQ, but that doesn't seem to
matter:
checking Maximum number of filedescriptors we can open... 1024
[root@constellation squid-2.2.STABLE3]# ulimit -a
core file size (blocks) 0
data seg size (kbytes) unlimited
file size (blocks) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes) unlimited
stack size (kbytes) 8192
cpu time (seconds) unlimited
max user processes 256
pipe size (512 bytes) 8
open files 8192
virtual memory (kbytes) 2105343
