Hmm, perhaps I misunderstood the question. I was assuming he wanted the
'machine name' of the client box on his local network. If this isn't the
case then, as you suggest, 'log_fqdn on' will do the job nicely.

You should put "log_fqdn on" into your squid conf. Remember, that it could
slow down access to the world via squid if reverse DNS failed or if you
don't
have all the machines registered in rev DNS.
