Hello,
Iīm using Squid Cache: Version 2.2.STABLE4 on an old linux box,200 Mhz
pentium, 512 Mb ram, kernel 2.2.5, 2 x 9Gb uw-scsi harddisk.
The box is standing inside a DMZ,so requests from the inside to the proxy
have to pass through a firewall as well as requests from the proxy to the
internet and back.
For the last 5 month or so everything went just fine for me and about 500
users, but now more and more people start complaining about the proxy
getting slow. Since we already checked the firewall sides (everything just
fine),
there is only the proxy left I fear.
To my shame im must say that I didnīt care much for the proxy the last
month, just put it up about 6 month ago and started it. Compiling linux
and
squid I used the defaults, my squid.conf is also default, apart from:
acl QUERY urlpath_regex cgi-bin \?
no_cache deny QUERY
cache_mem 32 MB
ipcache_size 2048
fqdncache_size 2048
cache_dir 6000 16 256
dns_children 20
request_size 20480 KB
reference_age 2 months
miss_access allow all
cache_effective_user squid
dns_testnames netscape.com internic.net nlanr.net
logfile_rotate 7
forwarded_for off
I left out a few aclīs but thatīs all to it.
I already read through the FAQ, but could get much out of it that would
obviously help. So Iīm sorry to bother you with just another squid.conf
question, but I desperatly need some hints on how to tune my squid.conf or
maybe
even new compiling linux and squid.
Thankīs Peter
