User Authentication - Any 'Gotchas'?

Hi,
I am looking at having all our users be authenticated by Squid before allowing
access. I am in the process of reading man pages, conf files, faq's etc. Is
there anything else I should read? Are there any traps for the unwary
(newbie)?
