transparent_proxy_problem

Hi,
I've set up a firewall with masquerading
and a squid(port 3128) on the same machine.
Everything goes well , when the browser in
the internal net uses the proxy on port 3128.
Then, I configure a redirect with
/sbin/ipchains -A input -p tcp -d 0/0 80 -j REDIRECT 3128
and tell the browser to connect directly to the internet!
When I now request a page, say http://134.96.119.203/
in the browser, it says ERROR - while trying to retrieve the URL: /_
It looks as if the destination in the IP-Header is lost
during redirection -- is this possible and how can I avoid this ???

Any hints will be appreciated ...
