[SQU] squid file/cache descriptors

platform: suse v6.3
proxy: squid
problem: no more file/cache descriptors

the lack of file descriptors halts the proxy from processing any more
requests.

what's the easiest way to solve this problem, without losing the cache all
the time.

is this a limitation of squid on linux?
