On the bigger caches with dnsserver I have set up, I ran with the max
amount possible, and patched the code to not abort when the queue
overflows (see http://squid.sourceforge.net/hno/)

The dnsserver queue is very sensitive to DNS outages. If there is some
frequently requested domains that is unavailable, then many of the
dnsserver processes will be blocked with lookups that are slow/failing.
