No, I was using ufs.
Here is what I have now and it does not work.
cache_dir diskd /cache1 49000 18 256
I get following error message.
FATAL: Unknown cache_dir type 'diskd'

Are you using diskd in your cache_dir definitions?
The default is ufs.
