Regarding first problem, verify whether you've set permissions(uid/gid) to
the cache directory and to log files.
To Configure squid in Transparent mode, have a look at

dear FRIENDS
i work in littel ISP and i wanna use squid-2.4.stabel6.
i downloaded it and installed it and configed the squid.conf file. but i
have some problem,
i run squid with this coummand : /usr/local/squid/bin/squid
and it runs but it doesn't work. i don't know why. in fact it doen't create
logs file !!!!! and my input and output line in router goes down(oh it
happens when i put cache address in router),i don't know why.
so please help me to repair my problems .
oh other thing : how can i run squid as transparent mod ???????? i don't
want that my clients set thair proxy .
