I would guess that you need to use ulimit (to raise filedescriptor limit),
then do rpm --rebuild on the source RPM, then install the compiled RPM
normally.
Remember that you also need to use ulimit when you run Squid.
Further help on installing from a source RPM is probably better found on the
RedHat forums or a dedicated RPM list.
