[squid-users] strange problem with proxy port

Hi List,

we encounter a strange problem when using squid-2.6stable16 (running on linux
x86_64). Configuration is mostly default, but with http_port set to 8080.
Clients are Windows XP and Vista using IE and firefox. Browsing http is
working very well, but as soon as clients request a https url the connection
is dropped pretty quickly (does not seem like a timeout). Squid's logs do not
show anything about these request. Now comes the strange part. When setting
http_port back to 3128 and also edit the port on the clients, those https
requests are working immediately. Can someone point me to the reason for
this?
