Ding dong !,Boink ! Kadoeeiing... One of your bells
just fell out of the it's tower.
The power and flexibility of rpm as a tool
for managing sw. packages on in consistent manner, doesn't
always make it oriented towards newbies.
Often for SQUID however there's need to :

       - use options to squid which may not have been built (added)
when a specific rpm was made
       - use the latest version of SQUID when no rpm is available.
